Here's a tentative list of games that will be (somewhat) supported and sanctioned at the February 2009 LAN party:
- Unreal Tournament 2004
- Team Fortress 2
- Left 4 Dead
- Counter-Strike: Source
- StarCraft: Broodwar
You may bring and play other games, we will not support any games that are not listed above. We will not have patches or updates for said games. But it is a rather open carefree L.A.N so your free to play whatever you want when you want, have a good time. Discuss Below.
Hey hey, and now some yucky stuff. With the current size of this event, we need some ground rules in place. Here are the LAN party rules (subject to change):
- Do not alter files on other people's computers without their permission. This is a privacy thing and a security thing. Fairly straightforward.
- Please no physical violence. Express it as virtual violence if you must, but really we hope everyone will maintain a friendly attitude.
- No alcoholic beverages. Save it for some other event.
- Do not eat or drink in the computer area. You can always grab a snack in the eating area. There will be lots of expensive equipment lying around. I don't want pop in my computer.
- No extremely loud speakers. If everyone uses speakers then no one will be able to hear anything. Please bring and use headphones.
- Do not cheat. Play by the rules of the game, otherwise it isn't fun for anyone else.
Gross failure to comply by the rules will result in being sent home. As well, you will not be welcome at our next party. All decisions are final.
We (silverorange) are a Web design company located in Charlottetown, PEI. We design and develop Web-applications of all shapes and sizes. Some of the sites we are involved with include Mozilla and Digg.
As well as developing websites, some of us are avid computer gamers. In fact, we have a company Starcraft game about once a week. The slight productivity loss is worth it as Starcraft brings us together as a team and fosters a level of friendly competition.
Silverorange would like to meet similar-minded individuals from the community. Since a few of us have experience hosting LAN parties, silverorange is hosting a LAN party.
This will be a fun overnight event involving lost of computer gaming, and getting to meet new people. Silverorange is sponsering the event so the cost to participents is free. Pizza and drinks will be provided by silverorange.
The event is being held overnight February 21-22nd at the First Baptist Church in Charlottwtown. Arrivals start at 8:00pm. Departures can happen any time during the night, but the event will end around 7:00am in the morning.
